Digital Alternatives to Shooting Medium Format Film

I would say this is a better alternative to the Contax T2, especially if you are willing to spend the money on the Contax T2 you might want to seriously consider taking a look at the Fuji KLASSE S first. Fuji KlASSE S Specs. Frame size: 24mm × 36mm. Lens:38mm f/2.8 Super EBC Fujinon lens All the Pentax 645 lenses with Aperture rings should be excellent, now wishing I had held on to my 35FA, and 45mm 150mm. Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for use with a GFX, the Contax N 17-35/f2.8 zoom should cover a 33x44 sensor from ~22-23mm through 35mm when it's focused at infinity and stopped down to f8

Why I Switched from the Contax 645 to the Pentax 645NII

For those who remain unconvinced by the Contax, but are still interested in the 6x4.5 cm film format, Hasselblad's H-series 645 cameras are also a great option. Back in the day, I used them quite.. BTW, there is one more uncommon (but interesting) option for using your lovely Contax 645 lenses digitally. One professional whose work I very much admire has made excellent use of his Contax 645 lenses on a medium format Leica S2 digital body. Leica offers a mount adapter that permits full electronic communication and AF with Contax Zeiss lenses If you need a quick refresher, the Contax 645 is a 6×4.5cm medium format, autofocus film camera introduced by Kyocera under the Contax brand on February 20th, 1999 in Japan. It was an ambitious foray in the professional portrait and wedding world where medium format was king (at the time) and competed against the likes of the Pentax 645N and. (Contax 645: Japan Camera Hunter) Highly regarded as one of the best medium format cameras available on the market, the Contax 645 is an absolutely incredible piece of equipment. The Contax 645 offers a 6 cm. x 4.5 cm. film negative and was introduced in Japan in February 1999 Yeah, I think the Contax 645 140 f/2.8 shares a lot in common with the Minolta MD 135 f/2. Both have the same weaknesses--a bit too much CA and octagonal out of focus highlights--but on CA the Minolta seems a bit better and it is a stop faster and smaller when you consider the relevant adapters

Ultimately it was a compromise. The Contax S2b is my choice, as the all mechanical antidote to all that 1990s excess of buttons and shiny plastic. An alternative would be the lovely Nikon FM2/T or the Olympus OM3Ti. Both mechanical marvels too. So, Contax probably made the best cameras launched in the 1990s, but their electronics are dubious now Fotodiox Pro Contax 645 to Sony E-Mount Lens Mount Adapter ($155) Vello Leica M Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Adapter is a durable budget-priced alternative that allows you to attach a Leica M mount lens to a Sony E-mount (NEX or full-frame) camera body. I do understand that in essence, I am asking for a speculative opinion, but would appreciate any thoughts on this subject with specific regard to Contax 645 lenses. Perhaps an alternative approach might be to find one of the Mamiya 500 f/ 4.5 APO lenses that were produced for the M 645 system. Many thanks in advance None of the K&F Concept adapters have any electronic communication with the body, and all cost around ¥10,000 (approx. $90) Contax 645 users will be more interested in this adapter from Fringer, which allows full electronic contact between the Fujifilm GFX and Contax 645 lenses

By far the best solution (albeit a the more expensive option) would be either getting a contax 645 lens or N series lens converted via Conurus for canon or nikon. It is not an adapter but actually modifies the lens and mount to work natively with the system. Very nice and retain all functions. Oct 06, 2016 at 05:50 P The closest lens I have owned to the Mamiya C 80mm f/1.9 lens is my Contax 645 Zeiss 80mm f2 lens. That way a fantastic camera/ lens setup but you pay a huge premium for it. A few weeks ago I posted an open question, does anyone have a 645 that suffers from the widely reported 2 or 3 second start-up delay when there's actually film in the camera? No one has answered to say they have, so it seems this is a 645 myth based on playing with the camera without film in the.. You can get a perfectly good contax with viewfinder, 120mm back and 80mm f/2 ziess lens for about $2500. I wouldnt say that is expensive at all. Shoot you're almost to that price range if you buy a 35mm canon 1v and 50mm f/1.2 used. If you buy new, way over the price of a contax 645. So i guess my point is the price is reflective of the quality. World best smart CONTAX 645 lens adapter for Fujifilm GFX cameras; Better knowledge on Fujifilm and Contax gears. I just got one, along with a Contax 645 120/4 apo-makro-planar, a few weeks ago. The lens is superb, as good as I remembered; I had one with the C645 camera that I had many years ago. It's terrific quality, goes to 1:1, and has the advantage IMO of being manual focus rather than focus by wire
